I'm writing to object to the proposed plans to build more homes on green belt country in North Herts.

Not only will the proposed number of new houses destroy the lungs of North Hertfordshire, it will irreparably damage existing communities and the landscape, especially so because the existing infrastructure is inadequate as it stands, without adding to the number of homes, people and cars as proposed. Apart from the traffic bottlenecks which threaten to become a feature of daily life, the drainage system in the Ickleford area is utterly precarious. There is regular flooding in the road where I live in winter, and the addition of hundreds of new homes in land above me will only add to the problem. I STRONGLY urge you to reconsider the proposals, or at least to commission a geological survey of land near Chambers Lane and Walnut Way to determine the effect of the building programme on the underground river which runs alongside the road.

For instructions on how to use the system and make comments, please see our help guide.
