Having read the modified local plan I would like to express my concern regarding the wording of Policy SP15 and the LG1 Development Plan, specifically Paragraph 4.188.

I appreciate that housing is required and necessary but the wording regarding the Norton Road access concerns me. I am a resident on Norton Road and walk the Greenway daily. The Norton Road access route could make this estate feel like a separate settlement and will only increase traffic on an already busy road. Logistically, accessing through this route from the north side of town (A1 Junction 10) is not such a problem but could make the housing seem like an annex to Letchworth. Traffic travelling into town to shops and schools will bring additional traffic to already very busy residential roads.

I have attached photos of parked traffic down Norton Road. This shows how people park when visiting residents in an effort to protect their cars from constant passing vehicles. It makes life unpleasant for residents, difficult for road users and dangerous for pedestrians.

As a pedestrian walking the greenway, I can't imagine how long you would have to wait to cross the road to continue the walk to Radwell. Norton Road is very busy at the proposed entry point without the additional impact of traffic leaving the new estate. Any crossings installed to aid pedestrian safety would cause traffic tailbacks at peak periods as has been shown whenever temporary traffic lights are installed.

An additional point I would like to raise is how the green belt between Letchworth and Stotfold will be eroded by the scale of this development. The gap between the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire borders will be very thin indeed.
