I am concerned that Letchworth town planning is of historical significance - it was not intended to grow any bigger. The areas being made available for new build are not helpful for traffic flow to and from the town. If necessary more brown sites should be used.
I am furious every time I pass the top of Avenue One which is being redeveloped for a hotel, shop and Macdonalds. It would have been perfect for many new houses.
When I approached a councillor with regard to the Avenue One site I was told it was owned privately. What happened to Compulsory Purchase Orders.
When Welwyn GC was planned Odsey, at Ashwell station, was also considered as a good site for a new town. Why not meet government requirement for new houses in North Herts by building there? Yes, I know some of it is in Cambridgeshire but we are allowing Luton to extend into Herts I believe.
