disappointed that Policy 58 (Letchworth Garden City Design Principles) has not been included in the proposed Local Plan;
the references to Letchworth in the Design SPD do not give sufficient weight to the importance of Letchworth's heritage context;
the Design SPD, adopted before the NPPF, should be reviewed; and
the retention of Policy 58 would achieve the requirements of para 126 of the NPPF to have a positive strategy for the historic environment.

The definition of affordable housing should be broadened and clarification whether low cost market housing for local people can be included. Definition should include recognition of Community Land Trust and co-operative housing models as a way of delivering homes.
