Objection to CD3 on the grounds of:
- floodplain - surface flood water zone
- congestion
- not enough parking places in Valley Road and the High Street
- education provision - primary school is over subcribed and there will be more places needed. Many of the children of the village have to travel much further afield for education.
I am writing to object to the building of houses on the field off Valley Road in Codicote. I appreciate that new houses have to be built but cannot understand why they will need to be built on a floodplain. The field is at the back of my house and I struggled to get home insurance because there is a surface flood water zone that runs behind my fence at the back of the field. Only one insurance provider would tale our risk on. I myself have seen this flood 3 times in the last three years. Houses just a few down the row from me have been flooded after storms and when a risk assessor from Affinity Water visited the area after one flood event he said that the houses of the Paddocks should not have been built because of the risk and there certainly shouldn't be any built on the field. I know that surface runoff would be increased so what measures would you put in place to protect the current houses from the further risk of flooding and the future ones?
Also, the congestion in Codicote is awful and there are not enough parking places in Valley Road and the High Street as it is. What do you intend to do about this? Increased traffic from new builds would put increasing pressure on our small rural community.
Please can you advise at to what plans there are for further school developments in the area? The primary school is over subscribed and there will be more places needed. Many of the children of the village have to travel much further afield for education as it is.
