Local Plan 2011-2031 Proposed Submission Draft
LG15 Garages, Icknield Way
Representation ID: 987
Received: 30/11/2016
Respondent: Mrs Dianne Judges
Legally compliant? No
Sound? No
Duty to co-operate? No
Object to LG15 on the grounds of:
- loss of parking given shortage of parking in the area
- on-street parking would increase rat running
- safety
Loss of garages seems to be retrograde bearing in mind the shortage of parking in this area. There is always road parking and as this is on the way to a secondary school, where young people will be making their way unaccompanied, any additional road parking adding to the 'rat-run' will likely increase the risk to these young people.

LG18 Former Depot, Icknield Way
Representation ID: 988
Received: 30/11/2016
Respondent: Mrs Dianne Judges
Legally compliant? No
Sound? No
Duty to co-operate? No
Object to LG18:
- Lose of employment land (industrial/commercial)
Again this is further loss of potential industrial sites and encroachment upon the industrial area of the town. As the land backs onto the railway it still seems to be appropriate to keep this as industrial/commercial. The repurposing of the old Power Station on Works Road seems to be well received and a similar outcome might be anticipated for other areas on the Industrial Estate. New office buildings might also be appropriate as there is a lack in Letchworth

Policy SP17: Site HT1 - Highover Farm, Hitchin
Representation ID: 990
Received: 30/11/2016
Respondent: Mrs Dianne Judges
Legally compliant? Yes
Sound? No
Duty to co-operate? No
Object to HT1 on the grounds of:
- Green Belt - coalescence
- traffic at peak times along Cambridge Road
This development narrows the already slim green belt between Hitchin and Letchworth Garden City. The roadway into Hitchin from Letchworth (Cambridge Road) is already a major traffic jam at peak times with the traffic sometimes backing up as far as the Letchworth Broadway.
