Wymondley Parish Neighbourhood Plan 2015 - 2031

Little Wymondley is liable to flooding, as shown in the Environment Agency map. The proposed development site will likely exacerbate flooding due to surface water run-off and is actually on part of the floodplain. This needs to be carefully looked at before any such development takes place and Flood Risk Assessments and Surface Water Management Plans utilising permeable asphalt, SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) and other methods of returning water to the aquifers need to be written, as outlined in the Wymondley Parish Neighbourhood Plan.

Wymondley Parish Neighbourhood Plan 2015 - 2031

Representation ID: 6506

Received: 20/07/2017

Respondent: Environment Agency

The main sources of flooding in this area are surface water and flooding from the ordinary watercourse (Ash brook) through Little Wymondley. The Local Authority and Hertfordshire County Council will be able to provide more detail on the areas at risk from surface water flooding (including groundwater and sewerage) and flooding from ordinary watercourses. The Surface Water Management Plan (SWMP) will contain recommendations and actions about how such sites can help reduce the risk of flooding. This may be useful when developing policies or guidance for particular sites.

Comments from the Environment Agency previously submitted to the Regulation 14 consultation.

Wymondley Parish Neighbourhood Plan 2015 - 2031

Representation ID: 6534

Received: 31/07/2017

Respondent: Stevenage Borough Council

Representation:

Support the aims as set out in this chapter. Support the desire to improve flood management in Little Wymondley.

The development at EC1/7 in the Stevenage Local Plan has been subject to a Level 2 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment, and will be subject to a site specific Flood Risk Assessment when permission is sought. Both of these documents will be signed off by the Environment Agency prior to any development commencing. The Borough Council will not permit development in Stevenage Borough to increase the risk of flooding in the WPNP area.
