I would like to comment as follows on the draft Ashwell Neighbourhood Plan
As you are probably aware our primary focus is on the delivery and management of affordable housing
With this in mind I would comment on the identified housing need in the village
• Older persons housing – we have an existing scheme of 30 apartments at Wolvery House, Gardiner’s lane. An extension to this could be accommodated at the land to the rear of the site. This could be seen as an exceptions site if delivered as 100% affordable. We could also then look at making some of the homes available for rightsizers
• Affordable low cost home ownership – similarly we would be interested in providing some shared ownership homes in the village for first time buyers. We would welcome the opportunity to work with the Parish Council to identify an exceptions site/site in public ownership/private ownership that could be brought forward outside of the development boundary if it was 100% affordable
• Create homes that are built to the highest quality standards and are energy efficient and are carbon neutral
• Design of the new homes will be in keeping with Ashwell’s design statement and importantly will preserve and complement the features that make Ashwell special
We look forward to furthering this discussion with you and Ashwell Parish Council.
