Sustainability Draft Supplementary Planning Document

Representation ID: 10393

Received: 08/02/2024

Respondent: Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation

Representation Summary:

I'm not convinced that leading with Passive Solar gain is the best recommendation because it encourages excess use of materials, by increasing roof overhang, and using high thermal mass materials. This could be misinterpreted, and cause overheating in homes due to large south facing windows without shading, and low thermal mass buildings that will heat up too quick. Suggest a masterplan overview indicating effective orientation of buildings, and other points highlighted below the current diagram.
